Overview
HappyConnect is a prototype for connecting people through mutual help and barter-like exchanges.
What I built
- A social feed for asks (help requests) with replies and “claps”
- Real-time updates using Socket.IO
- A foundation for “trading in chain” (multi-person exchanges)
Key decisions
- Keep the feature set minimal early (fast iteration)
- Prefer clear UI patterns (stacked cards, simple actions)
- Treat realtime as a product feature (not just a technical gimmick)
Results
- Working realtime notifications + stable backend routes
- Clean separation between Ask feed and Trade logic
